Variety slams "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" finale as a total bust! After getting canned last July, nearly a year before his final show, Colbert was in a seriously tough spot. The dude tried to play it cool, kicking off with his usual jokes in the monologue, but it was all downhill from there.

The show tried to keep it together, acting like just another night at the "Late Show." But everyone knew the truth: it was the end, and not in a good way! This was supposed to be a grand farewell, but it just fizzled out, leaving fans and critics scratching their heads. Ouch!

Colbert’s effort to keep the humor alive despite the looming axe just highlights the awkwardness. It’s hard to laugh when you know the host is just going through the motions. What a way to wrap up a series!
